An Archive of Care: Reframing Our Understanding of Family, Place, and Identity is an exhibition by artist Robin North at The Sheehan Gallery in Walla Walla, Washington, that examines family archives as sites of memory, knowledge, and preservation within the Black communities of rural Jackson County, Texas. Rooted in North’s own family archive and his ongoing work with Texas Freedom Colonies, the exhibition considers how photographs, land records, handwritten documents, obituaries, church records, and family artifacts preserve histories that have often remained outside institutional archives and historic preservation systems.
